Residential
House at the Beach
A beach-adjacent lot in a dense coastal neighborhood presents a specific challenge: how to achieve privacy and outlook simultaneously, within a small footprint, on a street of heterogeneous houses. Stacked rectilinear volumes (the upper form stepping back from the street) create a rooftop terrace oriented to the ocean. Light wells illuminate the interior at the ground level. A simple material palette of white plaster and dark metal fenestration allows the building to read quietly on the street while opening generously toward the sky.
